Cooking Monk Fish

Monk fish is an incredibly easy and versatile fish to cook. Known as “poor mans lobster,” monk fish has a similar, tender texture to that of the popular crustacean. Monk fish is also known to be incredibly healthy, containing less calories and saturated fat than that of the average fish fillet. For optimal nutrition and quick preparation, you can cook monk fish by following these easy steps:

1. Sprinkle monk fish with salt and pepper.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium high heat.
3. Place monk fish in the skillet. Cook until opaque, about six minutes on each side. (Cooking time depends on the thickness of your fish, about 6 minutes for each inch of thickness. The fish should have an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit when finished)

It’s that simple! Serve over a bed of rice or mashed potatoes with veggies. You can also dice monk fish and add to your favorite pasta sauce, or cover in some Patak’s curry sauce and serve over basmati rice for a delicious (and so easy!) curried monk fish dish.
